Why Allen Built

What you get when Allen Built runs the job

Since 1980 the Allen family has built and maintained the buildings Tasmanians learn, work, heal and live in. Shannon Allen now leads the company his father Edward started, and the rule has not changed: no client turned away, no job left half done.

One project manager, start to finish

Every commercial project gets a dedicated full-time project manager, so you always know who to call and what happens next.

Cleared and inducted for sensitive sites

Every team member holds a Working With Vulnerable People card and completes site-specific inductions for schools, clinics and industrial facilities.

Built to code, signed off properly

Commercial work is delivered to the National Construction Code for Class 2 to 9 buildings and the relevant Australian Standards, with a Medium Rise Builder Licence behind it.

There when something goes wrong

Storm damage, vandalism or a failed fitting at 2am: the maintenance team answers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Meet the builder

Led by a builder who still walks the site

Shannon Allen is Allen Built's Director and a licensed Medium Rise Builder. He started on the tools as a carpenter, has more than 15 years in carpentry and over eight in commercial maintenance behind him, and still runs estimating and project coordination himself.

Edward Allen, an engineer, started the company in 1980. Shannon took it over to keep doing what his father set out to do: give Tasmanian clients building solutions that are structurally sound, practical and good to look at.

Around him is a crew of carpenters, site supervisors, a licensed plumbing practitioner, an office team and apprentices. Every one of them holds a Working With Vulnerable People card, and almost all are completing further qualifications through TasTAFE and Master Builders Tasmania.
